The Endless Journey
This painting is part of Ting Yuen’s Landscape Series.
Gorman lake is an Alpine lake near Golden and my friend Laurie’s favourite spot. Since I have just moved to Golden, I haven’t had the opportunity to hike to Gorman yet although it is definitely beckoning me to visit. I have seen many pictures of it though and it looks absolutely stunning with the azure coloured lake and the valley that seems endless, going on forever and ever. As I was painting this, I could not believe the dimensions and the journey this place brings me to and my curiosity grows with it as I paint. After completing The Endless Journey, I not only want to visit this fine place for a little exploring of my own but want to paint Gorman in a much larger scale.
I guess that will have to wait for another painting season.
